Summerhill supports Western Chances

Helping people achieve their goals is what Summerhill Financial Services does. It made sense then to support a community program with the same aim, by donating investment-product commissions.

Financial planning is all about achieving your financial goals to achieve your lifestyle and wealth goals.

When Caroline Bell established Summerhill Financial Services in early 2006, the intended value of the service was to provide the financial discipline and guidance to help people get to where they want to be.

Working in a goals-oriented environment, what struck Caroline was that there are young people, particularly those who have potential but cannot fully realise it, who just need some help and guidance to develop goals that will see them achieve in many aspects of life.

“I have always been a keen supporter of a couple of charities and community programs,” says Caroline, who earlier this year was named in the top 50 financial planners in Australia. “One of those is Western Chances, which helps young people in the western suburbs to realise their potential by providing scholarships and other related programs.”

Summerhill Financial Services has just become part of Western Chances’ “Business Supporter Network”.

“Summerhill is a fee-for-service business; we do not accept investment product commissions. Sometimes though, the most appropriate financial product for a client offers commission. Whenever this is the case, and we can’t rebate it back to the client, we’ll donate the commission to Western Chances.”

Rebecca Morrison, Marketing & Development Manager for Western Chances, says the network includes businesses interested in contributing to the future sustainability of Western Chances’ scholarship program.

“As an organisation founded in 2003, we are proud of the impact we have made to the lives of many young people in Melbourne’s west and the community in which they live. Since inception, Western Chances has awarded more than 580 scholarships and invested over $750,000 into the young people of the west.”

Caroline Bell says, “What appeals to me about supporting Western Chances is the very practical help it offers young people, up to the age of 25, to support them to reach their potential.”
